Braces and aligners are both orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth and correct bite issues, but they work in different ways. Braces consist of metal brackets bonded to teeth, connected by wires and brackets applying gentle pressure to shift teeth into proper alignment over time. They are highly effective for complex cases and can address severe misalignments. On the other hand, aligners are clear, removable trays made of smooth plastic, custom-fitted to cover teeth. They gradually move teeth into position through a series of trays, each slightly adjusted to progress the alignment process. Aligners are nearly invisible and offer convenience, as they can be removed for eating and oral hygiene. While both options have pros and cons, this session provides you with detailed concepts on what works better for patients. The choice between braces and aligners often depends on the patient’s specific needs, preferences, and the recommendation of their orthodontist. This course has Dr Rohan Hattarki and Dr Yatish Joshi giving us insights on braces and aligners.
