Introduction to extra oral facial prosthetics cover the fundamental principles and techniques involved in the restoration of facial structures using prosthetic devices. This field addresses aesthetic and functional deficits resulting from congenital abnormalities, trauma, or medical conditions such as cancer. Facial prosthetics encompass various components, including ocular prostheses (artificial eyes), auricular prostheses (ear replacements), nasal prostheses, and facial prostheses (such as cheeks, noses, or chins). Custom-designed to match the patient’s anatomy, these prostheses aim to restore natural appearance, symmetry, and function, thereby improving the patient’s quality of life and psychological well-being. Dr Reiyal Goveas is a Maxillofacial prosthetic expert who will be taking this session and discussing about these devices.
