Intraoral Maxillofacial Prosthodontics

Intraoral maxillofacial prosthodontics is a specialized field within prosthodontics focused on restoring and enhancing the function and aesthetics of the oral and facial structures affected by congenital defects, trauma, surgery, or disease. This branch of dentistry involves the design, fabrication, and placement of custom-made prostheses within the mouth and on the face to replace missing or damaged teeth, tissues, or facial features. These prostheses may include dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and facial prostheses such as ocular, nasal, and auricular prostheses. Intraoral maxillofacial prosthodontics aims to improve patients’ quality of life, restore oral function, and enhance facial appearance, often through interdisciplinary collaboration.
