Overview
Wisdom tooth extraction is a common dental procedure performed to remove one or more of the third molars, known as wisdom teeth. These teeth typically emerge in the late teens or early twenties, but often don’t have enough space to grow properly, leading to various issues such as pain, infection, crowding, or damage to adjacent teeth. The extraction process involves giving local anesthesia, and in some cases, sedation may be used to ensure comfort during the procedure. The dentist or oral surgeon then carefully removes the tooth, sometimes needing to section it into smaller pieces for easier extraction. Afterward, the patient may experience some swelling, discomfort, and minor bleeding, which can be managed with pain medication and proper care. Following post-operative instructions, such as eating soft foods and maintaining good oral hygiene, is crucial for a smooth recovery. In this course you will be taken through all the steps for extraction and what the procedures involve.
